Who We Are
Serving vulnerable communities with dignity and opportunity
Our Name Means
A Maasai word expressing physical strength, capability, and intensity. Used in cultural mottos to denote resilience and power—as in "Naboisho ang, engolon ang" meaning "Our unity, our strength"
Engolon Community Based Organization is a Kenya-centered organization with a global audience, dedicated to empowering vulnerable populations through skills training, financial support, education, and access to essential services. Every person deserves the opportunity to thrive.

Stories
Celebrating the moments that define us
They don't need much. Just each other.
In a small dimly lit space, these children have created their own world. Gathered together — moving, talking, laughing, simply being — they remind us that community is not built with money. It is built with presence.
No screens. No toys. Just children doing what children do best — connecting.
But they deserve more than a dark corner. They deserve bright, safe spaces where their energy, creativity, and voices can truly shine.
That is what we are building.
Help us create safe spaces where Kibera's children can thrivePrograms
Building confidence, discipline, and community through skateboarding and inline skating on Kibera's streets
Our youth sports program uses skateboarding and inline skating as a vehicle for mentorship and character development. Older youth mentor younger children — learning leadership while passing on skills. Every session on Kibera's brick streets is a lesson in perseverance, trust, and belonging.
Our Work
Every program is born from the community itself — not designed in an office, not imposed from outside.

Kibra, Nairobi
Teaching women to sew and tailor — building independent income and economic security. Every stitch is a school fee paid, a family fed, a future secured.
This is what empowerment looks like.
Kibra, Nairobi · New
Teaching women to bake bread, mandazi, cakes and more — creating daily income from home. Low startup cost, high demand, skills they own forever.
When a woman bakes, her whole family eats.
Kibra, Nairobi
Skateboards and roller skates in the hands of Kibra's youth. Building confidence, discipline, and peer mentorship — one trick at a time.
One board. One mentor. One child whose life just changed.
Kibra, Nairobi · Urgent Need
The world runs on computers. So should our kids. Digital literacy and coding skills for Kibra's children — because opportunity in the 21st century starts with a keyboard.
Every cent goes directly to computers for Kibra's children.
Kajiado Central · Experience Tour
This is not a safari. A raw, honest journey into the lives of Kajiado's most vulnerable — women without income, girls kept from school, forgotten elders. Come not as a tourist. Come as a human being.
100% of tour proceeds fund Kajiado community programs.
Kibra, Nairobi
Girls in Kajiado drop out because of school fees, lack of sanitary pads, and cultural pressure. We remove every barrier standing between a girl and her education.
A packet of sanitary pads keeps a girl in school.
Kibra, Nairobi
64% of women in Kajiado have no income at all. Mama Inua builds economic independence through vocational skills, savings groups and microcredit — because when a mother rises, her whole family rises.
When a mother earns, her whole family eats.
Kajiado Central
The boy child is equally vulnerable — facing drug abuse, school dropout and unemployment. Engolon sees him. We give boys a positive path forward through mentorship and life skills.
No child — boy or girl — is left behind.
